As the Magic community continues to grow, it's important to stay vigilant against potential threats to your account security and assets. Here are some guidelines to help you maintain the integrity of your social accounts on Discord and Telegram.
Verify Moderators and Community Team Members: Always verify the identity of individuals offering assistance on the Discord server. Magic Square moderators and community team members will consistently have designated roles such as ðīMagic Square team and ðĢCommunity team.
Beware of Direct Messages (DMs): The Magic Square Team will never initiate a direct message (DM) with you or request you to send a DM. Avoid engaging with anyone suggesting private messages, as they may be attempting to compromise your security.
Privacy Settings: Within the Magic Square server, click on "Privacy settings" and toggle off the "Direct messages" option to avoid receiving DMs from suspicious users.
Verify Admins: Always confirm the legitimacy of an administrator by checking for the "Admin" tag positioned on the right side of the user's name. Alternatively, you can click on the user's profile, inquire within the group to verify their status, or check the group information.
Avoid Clicking Suspicious Links: Never click on links sent by users who are not part of the Magic Team, as doing so could put your account at risk of compromise.
Email Verification: When receiving emails from Magic Square, always verify the sender's address to ensure you are receiving an official message from the company. Official handles include hello@magicsquare.io and hello@magic.store.
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Enable 2FA for your Discord and Telegram accounts. This adds an extra layer of security by requiring a verification code in addition to your password.
Password Strength: Use strong, unique passwords for your Discord, Telegram, and wallet accounts. Avoid using easily guessable information, and consider using a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols.
Regularly Update Passwords: Change your passwords periodically to reduce the risk of unauthorized access. This is especially important for sensitive accounts like your wallet.
Official Channels: Only interact with official channels, websites, and social media accounts associated with Magic Square. Be cautious of unofficial sources or imposter accounts.
Regularly Check Account Activity: Monitor your account activity for any unusual behavior. If you notice any unauthorized access or suspicious activity, take immediate action to secure your accounts.
Fraud Behavior Patterns:
Impersonation Tactics: Scammers may impersonate admins by copying parts of their bios and handles to reach out to members via DMs. We never initiate DMs first; always verify account authenticity before engaging. If you encounter suspicious accounts, report them immediately.
False Assistance Offers: Scammers might falsely claim they can help and prompt you to DM them for assistance. Remember, our support team is available both on Discord and Telegram, where we can always assist you with your questions.
Fake Giveaways and Promotions: Beware of scammers offering fake giveaways or promotions. Legitimate announcements will be made through official channels and won't require sensitive information upfront. Always check with the community moderators if any giveaway you see not mentioned on the official channels is legit.
Pressure Tactics: Scammers may create urgency to manipulate quick decisions. Take time to assess requests, especially those involving personal or financial information. Don't feel pressured to act hastily; verify and confirm before proceeding.
Protect Your Seed Phrase: Never share your seed phrase with anyone, including the Magic Square team. Your seed phrase is essential for accessing your wallet, and sharing it could lead to unauthorized access to your assets.
Verify Wallet Connections: Pay attention to your wallet connections and only connect to websites that you can verify are safe. Be cautious of initial sign-in messages and ensure you are interacting with secure platforms.
Keep Software Updated: Ensure that your wallet software is up-to-date. Developers often release updates to address security vulnerabilities and enhance overall performance.
Avoid Public Wi-Fi for Transactions: Refrain from making transactions or accessing your wallet on public Wi-Fi networks. Use secure and private networks to reduce the risk of unauthorized access.
Regularly Monitor Transactions: Keep a close eye on your wallet transactions. If you notice any unauthorized or suspicious activity, take immediate action to secure your wallet and investigate the incident.
Understand Smart Contracts:
If you interact with smart contracts, thoroughly understand their functionality and implications. Misusing or misunderstanding smart contracts can lead to irreversible transactions.
By following these security guidelines and best practices, you can help safeguard your social accounts and wallet assets within the Magic community. Stay vigilant and prioritize your security at all times.
Remember, we never would DM you first. ð
